Etched Zinc Accessories

Work before NID

  • Explore zinc as a medium for accessory design and surface experimentation and translate printmaking processes into wearable forms.

  • Promote awareness and appreciation of printmaking and etching as artistic mediums beyond traditional paper-based applications.

Process

The accessories were created using zinc plate etching, where an acid-resistant ground was applied to the plate, followed by hand-drawn illustrations. The plate was then immersed in acid, allowing the exposed areas to be etched and form engraved grooves. These grooves were filled with acrylic colors using an intaglio-inspired process and sealed with varnish for protection.
