Fading reefs
Project

Otherness to Oneness explored the relationship between humans and nature through the idea that “We are Nature and Nature is Us.” The project began by investigating the significance of nature through key themes and identifying critical environmental challenges affecting the natural world today. Through research, reflection, and material exploration, the goal was to translate these insights into a wearable piece of jewelry. The final outcome symbolized the interconnectedness between humans and nature, expressing the idea that we are not separate from the environment but part of a single, shared entity.

Learnings
  • Learned to identify and extract fundamental forms from natural inspirations, using them as a starting point for form development and jewellery ideation.

  • Explored a range of materials and making techniques, gaining a better understanding of how different materials behave, transform, and influence the final form.

  • Understood the importance of research and inspiration in guiding the design process, and how abstract concepts can be translated into tangible forms.

  • Developed the ability to visualize jewellery in three dimensions, considering scale, proportion, and placement on the body to enhance both aesthetics and wearability.

  • Learned how color, form, texture, and materiality work together to evoke emotions and communicate a narrative through jewellery.

  • Realized that jewellery is more than an ornament—it can carry stories, emotions, and deeper meanings, creating a personal connection between the wearer and the piece.
